The Gas Safe registered plumber will go through a rigorous
testing cycle to analyse your central heating and boiler to
find the source of the fault. As part of examining the boiler
and the central heating system together with the connections,
the plumber will check:
1. Flow and return pipes (to/from the boiler)
2. Boiler flame firing
3. Flue positioning and heat
4. Lockout on the boiler
5. FCU fuse (power to system)
6. Controls (programmers, thermostats)
7. Boiler pump
8. System pressure
9. Condition of radiators
10. Condition of pipe work
11. Condition of valves and other fittings
Advice on the safes and most feasible resolution will be
offered to you once the heating engineer has clearly
established the problem.
If you are thinking about getting a Boiler Installed there are
a few things to consider.
1. Price
2. The Make/ Model – How efficient is it?
3. Suitable – Is it the right size for my property? Will it
fit in the space I want?
Survey:
It is important to have a survey done to check what the best
appliance for your home is. This should always be carried out
by a professional engineer. The survey will go through all the
things you need to consider plus any other points you may
have. We will need to build up a clear understanding of what
the households heating and hot water needs are so that we can
help you decide what the best appliance for your home is. PlumbFix
Plumbing will call to confirm date time to call on you.
First Visit:
When we first visit you we will take you through the stages of
an installation so that you are as aware as possible about the
process and we do not use jargon to confuse you. If you have
any question we will be happy to answer them.
For Combination Boiler Installations
1. Our Plumber will check the water main, both the pressure
and flow rate to make sure they are adequate.
2. We will then check the space the boiler is to go into, and
any ideas that you have to move it to a new location.
3. We also check for the flue route and the direction it will
have to take. New Condensing Boilers have pluming, which is
the water vapour that you see coming out of the flue. Although
it is not a health hazard, it can be a nuisance to your
neighbours. We can usually work around these problems with a
plume management kit. These will divert the pluming away from
any direction that could be a problem.
4. Hot water requirement will also be taken in consideration
as every home has a unique one of course consideration should
be given to any expansion at a later date to not only a second
bathroom but also importantly the heating requirement.
For Air Source Heat Pump Installations
Air Source Heat Pumps takes energy from the air and raise it
to a higher temperature, using a process which is similar to a
reverse refrigeration process. This is a system which utilises
no external pipes and most of the working elements reside
within the building. The air handling unit draws air across
the water-anti freeze solution and transfers this energy into
the refrigerant. Heat pumps have some impact on the
environment as they need electricity to run, but the heat they
extract from the ground, air, or water is constantly being
renewed naturally.
Air Sourced Heat Pumps are ideal for very tight spaces and
within an eco architectural design or within the design of a
building which has large internal spaces such as audience
halls and public places.
An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in
the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. This
is a great Energy Efficient way of heating your home. Why not
ask us about it.
